Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was an athlete of natural talent and enjoyed playing tough athletic games. The passion for sports was matched by a natural talent for performance. This was demonstrated by her being the recipient of nearly every Feis award for drama and musical performances that her country could offer. Her acceptance was at the Abbey Theater by age 14 which was where she pursued her dreams of classical and opera. Charles Laughton became captivated with the stunning eyes of Maureen after seeing a screen test. Laughton and his partner Erich Pommer changed Maureen FitzSimons names in to "Maureen O'Hara" and shortened her name that was used on the marquee. They then cast Maureen as an actor in Jamaica Inn, (1939). Maureen FitzSimons' next movie (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1939-1939) was scheduled to be shot with RKO Pictures in America under agreement with Laughton. Maureen's contract with Laughton was acquired by RKO when this movie became a huge successful. Maureen was just 19 years old at the time she was starring alongside Laughton in two films.
